THE 1-1 BASICS
The 1-1 Parenting Principle starts with Counting Minutes. When you count out each second that your child is not listening or arguing with you, you are adding up minutes for yourself to rest and to be fully restored. And when you begin Claiming Minutes to be restored, you are enforcing natural consequences with your child and temporarily limiting their autonomy. You don't need to punish your child because natural consequences will do the work. Your child will quickly learn that their freedom is directly tied to their ability to listen and agree with you. As a result, your child learns to listen to and respect you, while your 1-1 relationship grows closer.
